Delilah, the Depot Darling of Delta

Delilah, the Depot Darling of Delta

Spooky Greetings from Delilah!

Here is her origin story.

During the 2020 pandemic, a man was cleaning out his storage building.

But it wasn’t just any storage building.

It was the abandoned and repurposed South Delta Depot.

On an old shelf, there was a large, torn up bag, and upon opening it, he found Delilah.

He was not sure from whence she came, but there she was, covered in mildew scale, her eyes clouded, and an abandoned mouse nest in the back of her hair.

The man stood the doll in the cargo entryway of the depot, and told his wife to have a look out the window at the depot. From a distance, Delilah looked like a small child, just standing there.

Upon closer examination, the woman thought that it was a mannequin, but it was not.

The man thought that Delilah would make a great Halloween doll, and should be left as she was.

The woman decided that if Delilah was coming into the house, she at least needed to be clean.

She gave the doll a thorough cleaning, then a make-over, but her hair and eyes still show evidence of her abandonment in the depot.

Now, every October, the woman brings Delilah to the Delta Public Library for a bit of social exposure.

Take a selfie with her, if you dare.

The man still thinks that Delilah looked better before her make-over.
